Three people are murdered in shooting at Russia’s Secret Service headquarters

Three people have died and others injured during a shooting at the Russian Federal Security Service office.

Russia’s security service (FSB) said one of its employees was killed in the incident at its headquarters in central Moscow on Thursday evening.

Contrary to earlier reports, the FSB said there was only one attacker in the incident and that the shooter did not manage to get inside the FSB building.

At least ten gunshots were heard with one man shouting “stop, I said stop”, a source claimed.

The attacker has been ‘neutralised’, the Interfax News agency reported.

Screams were heard on the scene where heavily armed special forces troops have been deployed, with authorities widening a cordoned-off area and telling passers-by to get away.

Russian investigators are believed to have opened a criminal case into the attempted murder of law enforcement officers.

A young man at the scene said: “We just walked out of our offices when a man dressed in black with a machine gun started shooting.

“He killed a traffic policeman, and went on further.

“We ran away from there. He was wearing all black. I didn’t see if he had a mask.”
