Thugs attack Lobi Stars’ players during training

Lobi Stars Football Club players were reportedly attacked by thugs during a training session at the Government Model Secondary School Pitch in Makurdi, Benue State’s capital

Sources say the hoodlums assaulted players and staff, accusing them of match-fixing, particularly in games between Lobi Stars and Abia Warriors. According to Leadership NG, some players were beaten and then locked in the team bus with the windows closed for 30 minutes as punishment for the team’s poor performance.

There were also rumors suggesting that the club’s management was behind the attack, allegedly sending the hoodlums to target their own players and staff.

In response to the incident and the rumors, Lobi Stars FC’s Media Director, Emmanuel Uja, issued a statement denying the claims. He firmly distanced the club’s management from any involvement in orchestrating the attack on its players and staff during the training session.
