Kano TikToker, Umar Hashim, widely known as Tsulange, has been sentenced to one year jail term for engaging in indecent conduct

The verdict was delivered by Magistrate Hadiza Muhammad Hassan at the Gyadi Gyadi Magistrate Court in Kano State, who found Tsulange guilty of public misconduct.
As part of the ruling, the court offered the influencer an option to pay a fine of N80,000 in place of serving the full jail term. Additionally, he was ordered to pay N20,000 to the Kano State Censorship Board to cover the cost of investigation and prosecution.
Tsulange’s arrest and subsequent arraignment followed a comedy skit filmed in June 2025, where he was seen bathing in public while wearing female undergarments—a video that drew outrage and triggered official action by the Censorship Board.
The case has sparked debate online over content boundaries and cultural sensitivities in Nigeria’s conservative northern region.
