Timileyin Ajayi, the alleged k!ller of 24-year-old Salome Adaidu, has been arraigned at the High Court of Justice in Lafia, the Nasarawa State capital
Ajayi was charged with one count of culpable homicide punishable by de.ath, in violation of Section 221 of the Penal Code of Northern Nigeria. The arraignment took place on Monday before Justice Simon Aboki, where the 32-year-old suspect pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Ajayi was arrested for the m3rder of Adaidu, a member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) who served at Nicon Insurance in Abuja.
According to reports, Salome was k!lled during a visit to the suspect’s house in the Papalana area of New Karshi, located in Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.
The police had earlier paraded Ajayi along with the weapons allegedly used to commit the crime, including a knife and machetes. He was apprehended on Sunday, January 12, 2025, while attempting to dispose of Salome’s severed head after dismembering her body.
In an exclusive interview, Ajayi admitted to k!ling Salome, claiming it was not premeditated. He stated, “I ki!lled her because we don’t have each other all the time. It’s not something I planned. It happened on that day and it happened. Not that I had it in mind, but she was cheating. I saw her chats with other guys on her phone, and that was why I decided to do it.”
When asked if he had any regrets, the suspect replied, “No. I don’t have any regrets because life is reciprocal. That’s what I thought. If you must do something to someone, you have to be reciprocal with that person. You have to understand what that person is going through. That’s why I don’t have any regrets because we were actually compatible.”
