President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved Nigeria’s bid to host two major continental football events — the 48th Ordinary General Assembly of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and the CAF Awards ceremony
The approval was announced during the ongoing Africa Forward Summit in Nairobi, Kenya, following a meeting between President Tinubu and CAF President Dr Patrice Motsepe.

The meeting also had in attendance key Nigerian and African football officials, including the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mrs Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, NFF President Ibrahim Musa Gusau, former CAF Vice President Amaju Pinnick, and CAF Acting General Secretary Samson Adamu.
The 48th CAF Ordinary General Assembly is scheduled to hold in October this year and will bring together presidents of CAF’s 54 member associations, representatives of the six zonal unions, and other top football administrators across Africa.
The CAF Awards, also part of the approved events, is an annual ceremony that honours outstanding African footballers and contributors, celebrated with glamour and recognition of excellence on the continent.
