President Bola Tinubu has raised the proposed 2025 budget from N49.7 trillion to N54.2 trillion, attributing the increase to additional revenues generated by key government agencies
In separate letters to the Senate and the House of Representatives, Tinubu communicated the adjustment, which was read during Wednesday’s plenary by Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
The President detailed that the increase was driven by N1.4 trillion in additional revenue from the Federal Inland Revenue Service, N1.2 trillion from the Nigeria Customs Service, and N1.8 trillion from other government-owned agencies.
Following the announcement, Akpabio referred the request to the Senate Committee on Appropriations for urgent review, assuring lawmakers that the budget would be finalized and passed before the end of February.
