President Bola Tinubu has launched a dedicated support fund for Nigeria’s Armed Forces, aimed at assisting wounded service members and the families of those who have died in the line of duty
Announcing the initiative on Sunday during his 74th birthday commemoration, President Tinubu said the fund is meant to honour the bravery, sacrifice, and service of the nation’s military personnel.
He directed the Accountant-General of the Federation to set up a special account for the fund, which will provide assistance to injured soldiers, as well as widows, widowers, and children of fallen heroes.
As a personal contribution, President Tinubu pledged all his salaries since taking office to serve as seed funding for the initiative, underlining his commitment to ensuring that those who protect Nigeria are not forgotten.
He urged state governors, members of the National Assembly, the private sector, friends, and well-wishers to support the fund, promising that full details will be shared soon.
President Tinubu stressed that supporting the Armed Forces and their families is not charity but a national duty. He reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to improving the welfare of military personnel, ensuring their service is met with dignity, care, and lasting support.
