President Bola Tinubu has ordered the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) to investigate the activities of the so-called Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), describing it as a fictitious body with no legal backing
The President directed the anti-corruption agency to conclude its investigation and submit a comprehensive report within 30 days.

The directive followed the discovery that the PFIPC was never created by the Federal Government and has no basis in any law, executive approval, presidential instrument or other lawful government action.
According to the Presidency, one Adeniyi Adeyemi Matthew allegedly posed as the Director-General of the fake council and falsely claimed to be a presidential appointee.
Tinubu instructed the ICPC to investigate the alleged use of forged appointment letters and other government documents, as well as claims that the suspect used the fake presidential appointment to seek official recognition, diplomatic support and visa facilitation.
The probe will also cover the alleged opening of multiple bank accounts in the names of purported government agencies using forged documents.
Beyond the principal suspect and his collaborators, the President directed the commission to investigate how the fake organisation was able to gain an appearance of legitimacy.
The investigation will examine the origin and use of forged official documents, the process through which official recognition or diplomatic support may have been sought, the operation of related bank accounts, the source and movement of funds, and the involvement of any public officials, private individuals, financial institutions or intermediaries linked to the alleged scheme.
Tinubu also instructed the ICPC to identify loopholes in government procedures that may have been exploited and recommend measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.
