President Bola Tinubu on Sunday directed the military, police, and State Security Service (SSS) to track down and apprehend those responsible for the deadly attack on Kasuwan Daji market in Niger State, where at least 30 villagers were k!lled and scores of women and children abducted
The President also ordered security agencies to urgently rescue all kidnapped victims, warning that the perpetrators “must face the full consequences of their criminal actions.”

In a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu linked the Saturday attack to terrorists fleeing Sokoto and Zamfara states following a United States airstrike on Christmas Eve.
Armed bandits attacked Kasuwan Daji market in Demo community, Borgu Local Government Area, on Saturday, January 3, 2026. The gunmen killed 30 people, including women, abducted many others, and set the market on fire.
Confirming the attack, Niger State Police spokesperson SP Wasiu Abiodun said suspected bandits from the National Park forest along Kabe District invaded the market, looted shops, and carried away food items.
“These terrorists have tested the resolve of our country and its people. They must, therefore, face the full consequences of their criminal actions. No matter who they are or what their intent is, they must be hunted down,” the President stated. He added, “They, and all those who aid, abet, or enable them in any form, will be caught and brought to justice.”
Tinubu extended his condolences to the families of the victims and the people of Niger State, assuring that security agencies have been instructed to intensify operations around vulnerable communities.
