President Bola Tinubu has submitted a N1.48 trillion 2025 budget proposal for Rivers State to the National Assembly, following the Supreme Court’s nullification of the state’s previous budget

The move comes amid an ongoing state of emergency declared in March 2025, which led to the suspension of Governor Siminalayi Fubara, his deputy, and the state House of Assembly. Retired Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas was appointed Sole Administrator to oversee the state’s affairs during this period.
The proposed budget includes N324 billion for infrastructure, N166 billion for health, N75.6 billion for education, and N31.4 billion for agriculture. An additional N5 billion is allocated for free drug distribution across the state.
President Tinubu urged lawmakers to expedite the passage of the budget to ensure continuity in the delivery of essential services and development projects in Rivers State.
