President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s tenure as chairman of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government comes to a close today

During his leadership, he navigated significant challenges, including military coups in several member states.

According to the nitially, he took a firm stance against these unconstitutional changes, imposing sanctions on the affected countries.

However, ECOWAS later adopted a more diplomatic approach, lifting the sanctions to resolve the crises peacefully.

According to Vanguard, Tinubu played a crucial role in ensuring the successful execution of Senegal’s 2024 election, demonstrating his commitment to upholding democratic principles in the sub-region.

His dedication to promoting democracy and stability in ECOWAS member states has been a hallmark of his tenure, which will come to an end at the 65th Ordinary Session in Abuja, where he will hand over the reins to his successor.
