British actor Micheal Ward, known for his role as Jamie in the hit Netflix series Top Boy, has been charged with multiple s3xual offences, including two counts of r#pe
The 27-year-old has also been charged with two counts of assault by penetration and one count of sexual assault. According to the Metropolitan Police, the charges relate to a single woman and allegedly took place in January 2023.
Detective Superintendent Scott Ware, leading the investigation, stated, “Our specialist officers continue to support the woman who has come forward — we know investigations of this nature can have a significant impact on those who make reports.”
Ward, who is from Cheshunt in Hertfordshire, is scheduled to appear at Thames Magistrates’ Court on August 28, the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) confirmed.
In a statement, Ward denied all allegations, saying: “I recognise that proceedings are now ongoing, and I have full faith that they will lead to my name being cleared.”
Catherine Baccas, Deputy Chief Crown Prosecutor for CPS London South, reminded the public that the case is active: “We remind all concerned that proceedings against the suspect are active and he has a right to a fair trial. It is vital that there should be no reporting, commentary or sharing of information online which could in any way prejudice these proceedings.”
Ward has built a successful career with appearances in Blue Story, Empire of Light, and The Old Guard. In 2020, he won the prestigious BAFTA Rising Star Award.
