The family of late Tope Osoba has opened up about the events leading to her de.ath, with her maternal aunt, Pejuola Ogunesan, claiming that the actress repeatedly expressed fear that she would d!e on the same day she eventually passed away
Pejuola shared the account during an interview with actor Kunle Afod, where she narrated what she described as Tope’s final ordeal.
According to her, she had not been on good terms with Tope since 2023, when the actress left Evercare Hospital in Lekki, where she was receiving treatment for breast cancer, alongside her fiancé, Prophet Itunu Onadeko, and actress Foluke Daramola.
Pejuola said their relationship deteriorated after Tope accused members of her family of taking her phone away while she was preparing for surgery. She said the actress subsequently blocked family members, making communication difficult.
However, on the day of the incident, Pejuola said Tope contacted her and told her she believed she was going to die. She and her elder sister eventually went to the police station where Tope was. According to her, the actress recognised them and introduced them to the Divisional Police Officer as her aunties.
Pejuola said Tope had also planned to visit prophetess Kehinde Osoba for spiritual assistance after reportedly experiencing disturbing dreams, struggling to sleep and having difficulty eating.
She further alleged that Tope made several claims about her relationship with Onadeko, including accusations that he was involved with other women. According to Pejuola, the actress said Onadeko had asked her to leave his home and pretend their relationship had ended for two months.
The aunt also claimed that Tope told her she had experienced three miscarriages despite being advised not to become pregnant within five years of her breast cancer surgery.
According to Pejuola, Tope later jumped out of a vehicle after LASTMA officials stopped another vehicle travelling ahead of them. She said the actress told an official that she did not know where she was being taken and asked to be taken to a police station.
The family later contacted Kehinde Osoba, the prophetess Tope intended to visit. Pejuola said they were asked not to bring Tope to the church because the prophetess promised to pick her up after her programme.
After waiting for several hours and reportedly finding the church locked, the family could no longer reach the prophetess. They eventually took Tope to another church, where prayers were offered as her distress intensified.
Pejuola said Tope later remained with the family but her condition continued to deteriorate. She reportedly made a social media post titled “Ogo tuntun” (new glory), sent messages to several people and complained that she was uncomfortable.
The family eventually rushed her to a hospital before she was referred to the Ogun State University Teaching Hospital. Pejuola said Tope’s condition suddenly worsened while they were in the vehicle and she died shortly after they arrived at the hospital.
Recounting the actress’s final moments and the warnings she allegedly made before her death, Pejuola said:
“When she called me that she was going to die that day, although we were not on good terms after she left Evercare Hospital in Lekki with her fiancé, Prophet Itunu Onadeko, and actress Foluke Daramola in 2023.
“She had told them that she didn’t want to see us because we collected her phone when she was supposed to focus on the surgery for her breast cancer.
“We tried calling her and discovered that she had blocked all of us. Since then, I swore never to have anything to do with her again. I called my elder sister, whom she had also called, and we headed for the police station where she was.”
“She (Temitope) would complain of not being able to sleep, seeing monsters and the fiancé. Now that Aunty Peju is here, she would die. She mentioned that the fiancé had told her that they would post her obituary that day.”
“She was just saying that the guy said she would die today.”
“When we got there, they referred us to OSUTH. Suddenly, she just defecated in the car. Her head suddenly dropped. Before we could get to the emergency, she was confirmed dead.”
