A devastating incident occurred in Maiduguri, Borno State, on Thursday morning, resulting in the loss of seven Nigerian Army soldiers
Their vehicle triggered an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) suspected to be planted by Boko Haram along the Gamboru Ngala-Maiduguri Road.
The soldiers were responding to a distress call about a Boko Haram attack on a nearby community when the tragedy happened.
A military source confirmed that the vehicle carrying the soldiers struck an electro-explosive device, killing all but one on board.
The source added that the remains of the deceased are being collected and identified before notifying their families.
The identities of the fallen soldiers have not been fully disclosed.
This incident highlights the risks and sacrifices made by Nigerian soldiers in the fight against terrorism.
