Troops attached to Operation Hadin Kai have apprehended a suspected su!c!de bomber and recovered materials believed to be meant for the assembly of Improvised Explosive Devices in Borno State
The arrest took place on Monday, December 29, in Bama Local Government Area, following a joint operation by soldiers of the 152 Task Force Battalion and other security agencies. The suspect was identified as Abubakar Mustapha.

Confirming the development on Tuesday, the Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force, Northeast Operation Hadin Kai, Lt Col Sani Uba, disclosed that the suspect was intercepted at the Banki Central Mosque with primed IED components in his possession, raising concerns of a planned imminent attack.
Further checks showed that Mustapha is a native of Bama LGA, while additional items recovered from him were linked to terrorist operations. Security sources said the materials pointed to ongoing extremist activities in the area.
The suspect has since been taken into custody and is being questioned to determine the identities of those backing him, possible accomplices, and any connections to terror groups operating within the region.
Lt Col Uba stated that troops under Operation Hadin Kai remain fully engaged in aggressive patrols, intelligence-driven missions, and sustained security operations aimed at protecting civilians and critical infrastructure. He also appealed to residents to support security efforts by sharing timely and credible intelligence.
The military reiterated its resolve to secure the North East, stressing that the morale and operational effectiveness of troops remain strong.
