President of the United States, Donald Trump, has confirmed that American forces have commenced what he described as “major combat operations” against Iran, marking Washington’s formal entry into a coordinated military campaign alongside Israel
The announcement was made in an eight-minute video shared early Saturday on Truth Social.
“A short time ago, the United States military began major combat operations in Iran.

“Our objective is to defend the American people by eliminating imminent threats from the Iranian regime, a vicious group of very hard, terrible people.”
Trump accused Tehran of maintaining 47 years of hostility toward the United States, referencing chants of “Death to America” and alleging a long-running pattern of “bloodshed and mass murder” targeting American troops, bases, allies, and civilians globally.
He framed the strikes as defensive in nature, saying the action was necessary to counter Iran’s “menacing activities” and neutralize immediate threats.
The development comes shortly after Israel confirmed it had launched a “pre-emptive” strike “to remove threats to the State of Israel.” Following that declaration, Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz announced a nationwide state of emergency.
In Iran, multiple explosions were reported across central Tehran. Verified footage circulating online showed thick plumes of smoke rising above key government districts, including areas near the offices of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.
Iranian state media acknowledged several missile impacts in the Republic district and other parts of the capital. However, authorities have not yet released official casualty figures or an assessment of the damage.
US officials told various media outlets that American forces are directly engaged in the joint operation, deploying air power and possibly sea-based assets as military activity intensifies across the region.
In Israel, major hospitals moved swiftly to implement emergency protocols. Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Center in Tel Aviv, Sheba Medical Center in Ramat Gan, and Rambam Health Care Campus in Haifa transferred patients to fortified underground units, discharged non-critical cases, and prepared for the possibility of mass casualties.
The national emergency service, Magen David Adom, also escalated its coordination with the military and health authorities nationwide.
Iran subsequently shut down its airspace, while reports indicate that Tehran is considering retaliatory options. An Iranian official signaled readiness for a “crushing” response, potentially involving missile and drone strikes or the activation of allied forces across the region.
