Donald Trump has announced that he has ordered the United States Department of Defense to resume testing nuclear weapons again
In a post on social media, Trump said he had instructed what he called the “Department of War” to start testing U.S. nuclear weapons “on an equal basis” with other nuclear powers, adding that the process would begin immediately.

According to reports from Reuters and The Guardian, the order is aimed at matching the nuclear capabilities of Russia and China. However, it remains unclear whether the directive refers to full-scale explosive nuclear tests or limited, non-explosive experiments such as missile trials or subcritical tests.
The United States has maintained a moratorium on explosive nuclear testing since 1992, and no specific details have been released regarding when or where any new tests might take place.
In short, Trump has indeed called for a resumption of U.S. nuclear weapons testing, but the nature and scope of that testing have not yet been confirmed.
