Elon Musk has reignited tensions with Donald Trump, boldly claiming the former U.S. president would not have won the 2024 election without his support
In a post on X, Musk wrote:
“Without me, Trump would have lost the election, Dems would control the House, and the Republicans would be 51-49 in the Senate.” He followed the statement with a pointed remark: “Such ingratitude.”
Musk’s comments come amid rising friction between the two, especially after he publicly criticized Trump’s recently proposed spending bill, describing it as a “disgusting abomination” that would add $2.4 trillion to the national debt and slash incentives for electric vehicles.
Trump reportedly responded by expressing his disappointment in Musk, accusing him of turning against the bill only when it became clear that the changes would hurt his business interests.
Once political allies—Musk having donated generously to Trump’s campaign—the two now appear to be at odds, with Musk increasingly critical of Trump’s policies and leadership.
