BBNaija star, Tuoyo Ideh has accused officers of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) of violently assaulting him during a raid at Proxy Nightclub in Victoria Island, Lagos

The raid, which took place in the early hours of Sunday, October 26, led to the arrest of popular Lagos socialite Pretty Mike and over 100 other patrons.

In a video posted to Instagram on Monday night, Tuoyo explained that he was at the club in his role as a promoter, helping clients secure a table when NDLEA officers, accompanied by military personnel, suddenly stormed the venue.

Tuoyo said he was initially cleared during a security check but was still forced into custody with other guests.

While detained, he alleges he was ordered to roll on the ground and beaten with sticks by the operatives. The assault reportedly only stopped after a female officer intervened, although he was still made to perform frog jumps despite being in severe pain.

Sharing his experience, Tuoyo said: “I’m a promoter; if you see me outside, it’s for business, promoting different clubs. I hadn’t even been inside 30 minutes when suddenly everyone was told to go down. I looked up and saw people in black uniforms and military personnel. They took our phones, checked everything I had — even my socks — and found nothing. After that, we were ordered outside around 3am.

“We sat on the floor, which was humiliating, and after some hours, a woman pointed at me. Five men rushed me, slapped me, and one said, ‘Na you go post abi? Shoot him.’ They beat me, hit me with sticks, kicked and slapped me. I was rolling on the floor, struggling to breathe. I’ve never been beaten like that in my life.”

Tuoyo captioned the video, “Nigeria finally happened to me 💔 😥🥺. Everything that happened at Proxy Lagos ended with me at the NDLEA office. I can’t even stand or lie down properly. The pain in my legs, hands, back, and head from the beating is unbearable.”

He added: “Yesterday, I felt so helpless. The intimidation and humiliation were overwhelming for me and everyone else present. We live in a country where human rights are often disregarded, and freedom of speech is practically nonexistent.”
