The Peoples Democratic Party have urged Nigerian youths to vote out the ruling All Progressives Congress in 2023. Part of the reasons they urged the youths to vote APC out is because of the Twitter ban by the Government.
In a communiqué issued on Monday after a meeting held in Port Harcourt, Rivers state, the opposition governors asked the electorates to end the dominance of the “youth unfriendly APC government.”
“The meeting urged eligible Nigerians of all walks of life, particularly the youths, to register en masse with INEC to exercise their franchise in the 2023 general elections.
“It further noted that the next election is a very consequential election that should be used to end the dominance of very youth unfriendly APC Government; a government that had the arrogance to deny Nigerian youths of the use of TWITTER, a business friendly tool for the young, for over a year,” the governors said in a communiqué issued after the meeting.
“The youths should empower themselves to determine who leads them,” they added.
The Muhammadu Buhari regime had banned Twitter operations in Nigeria on June 5, 2021, and recently lifted the prolonged suspension on Wednesday.
On Friday, the Lagos Chamber of Commerce & Industry (LCCI) estimated that Nigerian businesses lost N10.72 trillion ($26.1billion) in the 222 days the ban lasted.
