Two young men, identified as Fatai Abdulraman (26 years) and Muhammed Awal (27) have reportedly drowned in a quarry lake at Opete community in the Asa local government area of Kwara state
It was gathered that the incident happened on Monday at about 5:00 pm, while the victims were swimming.
Men of the Kwara State Fire Service, who recovered the two lifeless bodies from the quarry lake, confirmed that the victims drowned in the lake
. A statement on Tuesday by the public relations officer (PRO) and head, media unit of the Kwara state fire service, Hassan Adekunle, stated that the operatives of the fire service responded to an emergency call and successfully recovered the bodies during a rescue operation.
“Upon arrival, firefighters conducted a recovery operation and successfully retrieved the bodies of the victims, identified as Fatai Abdulraman (26 years) and Muhammed Awal (27 years).
“The recovered bodies were subsequently handed over to Mallam Abdulfatahi for necessary arrangements.
