Veteran journalist and publisher Dele Momodu has launched a strong critique of political commentators Reno Omokri and Femi Fani‑Kayode, accusing them of hypocrisy for their sudden support of President Bola Tinubu after previously attacking him
On his X account, Momodu shared a video showing the duo criticizing Tinubu, accompanied by a caption titled “RENO OMOKRI & FEMI FANI‑KAYODE: A TALE OF TWO SHAMELESS FRIENDS”. He explained that his post reflected his long-standing frustration with their conduct.
“I was going to ignore these two perpetual agents of perfidy, but later decided to respond just in case they think they could bully me into silence and submission. No, they can’t,” Momodu wrote. He added that both men “have no credibility whatsoever” and that their past criticisms of Tinubu are impossible to erase.
He suggested that Tinubu’s tolerance of Omokri and Fani‑Kayode stems from desperation, accusing them of making bold statements only to delete them later.
Momodu emphasized that he has never leveled unfounded allegations against the president. “I have never called him a murderer. I have never called him a drug baron or addict. Only morons talk without thinking,” he said, noting that he is independent and not seeking government appointments.
He clarified that his only criticism of Tinubu is regarding what he sees as a dictatorial leadership style, a position rooted in his opposition to tyranny and Nigeria’s history with military rule.
Momodu also revealed that both Omokri and Fani‑Kayode have previously reached out to him privately — either seeking publicity or apologizing after publicly attacking him — highlighting their inconsistency.
He concluded by expressing disbelief that the two continue to defend an administration they once criticized so heavily. “How Femi and Reno can continue to harass people on behalf of a Tinubu they’ve permanently damaged really baffles me. But this is Nigeria,” he wrote.
