South African singer Tyla has made history as her hit single “Water” surpasses 1 billion streams on Spotify, making her the first African artist to achieve this milestone with a solo song on the platform

This achievement cements Tyla’s status as one of Africa’s most influential global stars, following the massive success of “Water,” which gained worldwide recognition for its unique blend of Amapiano and R&B.

Her record-breaking feat comes shortly after Nigerian singer Tems became the first female African artist to reach 1 billion Spotify streams with her collaboration on “Wait For U” alongside Future and Drake.
