The US police have allegedly arrested reality television figure Wendy Osefo and her husband, Edward “Eddie” Osefo for fra.ud

According to Premium Times, in a stunning twist in a fra.ud case against the couple, Maryland investigators say they uncovered evidence that more than $20,000 worth of the ‘$200,000’ items they claimed were stolen had actually been returned to retail stores—before the couple reported the ‘burglary.’

The couple, known from The Real Housewives of Potomac, was arrested on October 9, 2025, on multiple counts of insurance fra.ud and making false statements.

Mrs Osefo faces 16 charges, including seven felonies, while her husband is indicted on 18 counts, nine of them felony-level.

According to the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office, the Osefos claimed that during an April 2024 vacation in Jamaica, at least 80 items—jewelry, designer clothes, shoes, and other luxury goods—were stolen from their home. The total value cited in the claim allegedly exceeded $200,000.

But detectives raised red flags when their investigation revealed that many items listed as stolen had been returned for full refunds prior to the claimed theft. A Dior shirt, for instance, was traced to a return transaction.

Further compounding suspicion: Mrs Osefo was later seen wearing one of the “stolen” rings in social media photos, even though that ring had been included in her own theft claim.

Investigators also scrutinised the physical evidence of the alleged break-in. The home’s ADT security system showed no motion inside during the window the couple claimed was burglarised. There was no disturbance of deck furniture or signs of forced entry via a second-floor window.

In court documents, deputies noted inconsistent statements in the couple’s insurance filings, including duplicate claims for the same items filed with different insurers.

Sheriff James T. DeWees described the unfolding picture bluntly:

“It became clear that the Osefos had fabricated the burglary and filed a false report … attempt[ing] to fra.ud their insurance company.”

Mr and Mrs Osefo posted $50,000 bond each and were released pending trial. Their legal team released a brief statement requesting privacy and affirming their intent to contest the charges.

They are scheduled to appear in court again later this year.
