The University College Hospital, (UCH), Ibadan, Oyo State, has
carried out a mass burial for many unclaimed corpses in its mortuary after
running three adverts in the pages of newspapers at three different occasions
with deadlines for the bodies to be claimed, when the mortuary became
congested. But even after the adverts, no one still came forward to claim them.

According to the hospital spokesman, Deji Bobade, it is believed
that most of the corpses were abandoned due to the culture that says that
“parents should not bury their children.”
