Uche Maduagwu has criticised Burna Boy over his outfit at the 2026 Ballon d’Or awards, saying the singer could have used the occasion to showcase Nigerian culture.
According to Uche, Burna Boy should do more to represent Africa through his fashion choices, especially at major international events where he has the opportunity to introduce African culture to a wider audience.
In a post he shared, he wrote:
“Burna Boy, stop calling yourself the African Giant if you cannot represent Africa by wearing African attire to international award ceremonies. Imagine if Burna Boy had worn a Nigerian traditional outfit to the 2026 Ballon d’Or awards. Wouldn’t that have helped promote Nigerian culture?”.
Uche believes wearing a traditional Nigerian outfit to an event of that level would have been a simple way for Burna Boy to promote the country’s culture on an international stage.
