The students of the University of Ibadan this morning moved
out in their hundreds ignoring lectures to protest the death of a student,
Mayowa Alaran, a 200L student of Human Kinetics who suddenly slumped due to an
asthma attack while watching a football match at his hostel hall yesterday
night. Mayowa was rushed to one of the school clinics by his friends, but the
nurses told them they will not attend to him except they present his clinic
card. Mayowa later died some minutes after when he got no medical treatment.

The aggrieved students who protested his death, blocked the Mokola-Oojo road, which made a lot
of motorists turn back. Some of them were heard saying the school’s health
officials killed the boy.
