Ukraine’s military awards a team of hackers, known as One Fist, for their cyber-attacks against Russia.
The hackers stole data from Russian military firms and hacked cameras to spy on troops.
One of the hackers, called “Voltage,” based in the US, received a certificate of gratitude for his efforts.
The team, consisting of hackers from eight countries, has carried out numerous cyber-attacks, aiming to support Ukraine.
The awards are controversial as they raise concerns about states encouraging civilian hackers.
Although some ethical hacking is officially recognized, this is the first time a country has awarded hackers for possibly criminal hacks.
The awards come amidst a surge in cyber-activity related to the Ukraine conflict.
Despite controversies, the hackers remain committed to supporting Ukraine’s cause.
