US celebrity judge and social media star, Frank Caprio has d!ed at the age of 88
Caprio, widely celebrated as the “nicest judge in the world,” passed away following a battle with pancreatic cancer, his family said.
His de.ath was confirmed in a statement posted on his official Instagram account to his 3.4 million followers, where he was praised for his “warmth, humour, and unwavering belief in the goodness of people.”
His son, David Caprio, thanked fans for their outpouring of love and urged them to “spread a little kindness” in his father’s memory.
Beloved for his compassion and lighthearted approach in the courtroom, Caprio gained global fame through viral clips of his hit show Caught in Providence, which amassed billions of views online. The company behind the show, Debmar-Mercury, remembered him for his “unique brand of compassion and common sense approach,” adding, “We will miss him dearly.”
During its run, Caught in Providence earned three Daytime Emmy nominations, with Caprio receiving two individual nods in 2024. His signature style produced memorable moments, including inviting children to sit beside him on the bench and even launching a “mini-judge” plushie in his likeness.
A TikTok video of his morning routine — brushing his teeth, signing his book, and watching clips of his own show — has been viewed more than five million times.
Judge Caprio is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Joyce Caprio, their five children, seven grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
