US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has announced plans to deport Nigerian national Ibrahim Tunde Ijaoba following his convictions for multiple violent offenses, including armed robbery, drug trafficking, and aggravated assault
In a statement on its official X account, ICE described Ijaoba as an undocumented immigrant who later became involved in organised criminal activity. He is a former member of the Bloods, a violent street gang recognised by US law enforcement as a major criminal organisation.

“Ibrahim Tunde Ijaoba is a criminal illegal alien from Nigeria and former member of the Bloods — a notoriously violent street gang. He entered illegally and then racked up an extensive rap sheet that includes convictions for aggravated assault on a police officer with a firearm, assault and aggravated assault, armed robbery, obstruction of justice, drug sales, and escaping police custody. He has a final removal order and awaits deportation in ICE custody,” the agency said.
ICE confirmed Ijaoba remains in its custody and is subject to a final removal order, with deportation proceedings ongoing. The agency did not specify when he entered the United States, the locations of his offenses, or the timeline for his removal.
Under US law, non-citizens unlawfully present in the country who are convicted of serious crimes, including aggravated felonies, are eligible for removal after criminal proceedings. Ijaoba’s case falls squarely under these provisions.
The Bloods gang, originating in Los Angeles, has been linked to violent crime and drug trafficking across multiple US states. Authorities often consider gang affiliation in criminal prosecutions and immigration enforcement actions.
The announcement comes amid increased immigration enforcement under President Donald Trump’s administration, which has focused on deporting undocumented migrants with criminal convictions, particularly those involved in violent crime.
Nigeria is among the countries whose nationals frequently appear in US immigration enforcement records. ICE did not confirm whether Nigerian authorities have been notified of Ijaoba’s impending deportation, a usual requirement under international deportation procedures.
No immediate comment was available from the Nigerian government or its Washington mission. Ijaoba will remain in US custody until deportation arrangements are completed according to immigration regulations.
