US State Department Deputy Secretary Christopher Landau on Thursday warned that foreigners, including Nigerians, who celebrate the k!lling of right-wing influencer Charlie Kirk online risk having their visas revoked, urging social media users to report such content
In a post on X, Landau said:

“Following yesterday’s horrific assassination of a leading political figure, I want to make clear that foreigners who glorify violence and hatred are not welcome in our country. I have been appalled to see some on social media praising, justifying, or trivialising the attack and have instructed consular officials to take appropriate action. Please bring any such comments by foreigners to my attention so @StateDept can protect the American people.”
His statement drew quick reactions from users pointing out posts allegedly made by foreign residents in the US, calling for visa revocations. Landau urged them to continue sharing by replying directly to him, assuring that the State Department would review the flagged content.
It was reported that Kirk, 31, a close ally of President Donald Trump and a prominent figure in mobilising young conservative supporters, was shot d3ad on Wednesday while speaking at a university in Utah.
