Social media influencer, Vincent Martins Otse, popularly known as VDM, has explained why he genuinely wanted Davido to win at the just concluded 2026 Grammy
He made the explanation, while reacting to South Africa’s Tyla win again.
Tyla had won in the Best African Music Performance category beating Nigerian stars, Ayra Starr, Wizkid, Burna Boy, Omah Lay and Davido.
This makes it her second win in the category since she won the inaugural award with ‘Water’ in 2024.
However, moments after Tyla was announced, VDM released a video questioning her triumph.
He said; “Tyla again? Anyways, shoutout to Davido, Burna Boy, Ayra starr and Wizkid. You guys put in the efforts.
“However, I will be very honest, I really wanted Davido to win so as to create balance. I like the cruise between the fans of the Afrobeats Big 3 on social media.
“The entries from Nigeria were very good songs but it is what it is,” he said.
Only women have won Best African Music Performance at the Grammys.
