The release of the abducted schoolchildren and their teachers in Oyo State has brought a sense of relief after weeks of uncertainty.
Like many Nigerians, VeryDarkMan said the news was one worth celebrating, but he also believes the conversation should not end with their return.
According to him, the children have been through an experience that could leave lasting emotional scars, especially after witnessing the killing of their principal while they were in captivity. He said getting them back home is only the first step, stressing that they now need proper care to help them recover from everything they have endured.
He said:
“I’m pleased and happy to announce that the Oyo schoolchildren and teachers have been released after spending more than 50 days in captivity.
I would like to make a sincere appeal to the Federal Government to ensure these children receive proper rehabilitation and psychological support. I can’t imagine the trauma they’ve endured, especially after witnessing their principal being killed in their presence.
These children must not be abandoned, as is too often the case. They deserve care, support, and every opportunity to heal and rebuild their lives. As for Governor Seyi Makinde, you kept your word. Respect.”
Beyond expressing his happiness over their release, he urged the Federal Government to make the children’s welfare a priority, saying emotional healing is just as important as bringing them back safely.
He also acknowledged Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, saying the governor fulfilled the promise he made during the difficult period.
