Actor and singer Jigan Babaoja has cried out over growing threats to his life following the public leak of his phone number
In an Instagram post on Thursday, the 42-year-old linked the threats to an ongoing controversy involving a WhatsApp group allegedly formed after the death of singer Mohbad.
“This is how it starts! You leaked my number so people can threaten me—same tactics used on Mohbad,” he wrote, tagging the Nigeria Police Force.
Jigan vowed not to stay silent in the face of what he called bullying and intimidation:
“Rather than let you kill me like you did Mohbad, I’ll fight with everything around me. These callers will regret ever being born. Just a few examples and the rest will learn.”
He warned that the threats were serious and that he believed an attack on him in public was possible:
“The threats clearly show they’ll come for me on the streets—but I’m ready for the streets too,” he said, calling on police authorities and Nigerians to act.
The post comes after media critic VeryDarkMan alleged that Jigan was part of a controversial WhatsApp group created by actress Iyabo Ojo in the wake of Mohbad’s passing. Other names linked to the group include Tonto Dikeh, Dre DMW, and Sam Larry’s brother, Olamilekan Eletu.
Initially, Jigan had asked VeryDarkMan to publish the full chat so Nigerians could judge for themselves, but he later dismissed the matter, saying he owed no one any explanations.
“So far, Nigerians are no longer asking for evidence. You paid ₦20 million to push a narrative and can’t even share it anymore? We’re not in the slavery era,” he wrote.
“Na leg dey pain me, not my brain. We’ll see how this ends. Thank you Allah, Holy Creator!”
