The brother of detained activist VeryDarkMan (VDM) has spoken out after VDM’s arrest by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC)
VDM was arrested at a GTBank branch while accompanying his mother to report unexplained debits from her account.
According to his brother, VDM and an associate were seriously injured during the arrest and denied medical attention.
Despite efforts to secure their release, the EFCC has reportedly refused to let them go or provide treatment.
VDM’s brother questioned the EFCC’s motives, suggesting an agenda against his brother. As of now, neither GTBank nor the EFCC has issued an official statement regarding the incident
He said:
“We’ve gone through the necessary channels. They have refused to let VDM and the other go or get treated because information reaching us was that they were badly injured,”
“I don’t know the agenda EFCC has against VDM. But whatever this is, GTBank and the EFCC know how this will end.”
