VP Shettima departs Abuja for UNGA

Vice-President Kashim Shettima has left Abuja for New York, United States, to participate in the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA)

The trip was confirmed in a statement released on Sunday in Abuja by Stanley Nkwocha, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications (Office of the Vice President).

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the UNGA session will run from Monday, September 22, to Sunday, September 28.

Nkwocha said Shettima is representing President Bola Tinubu and will deliver Nigeria’s national statement during the high-level general debates. He will also attend several side events at the global gathering.

The vice-president is expected to announce Nigeria’s new Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) under the Paris Agreement at this year’s UN climate special event.
