What was meant to be a high-profile political gathering quickly turned into a personal crisis for Wale Ajetunmobi, media aide to Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, during the 8th APC National Convention in Abuja

At the heart of the incident was the VVIP entrance at Eagle Square supposedly one of the most secure areas. Instead, it became a hotspot of confusion.

According to Ajetunmobi, the entry point was overwhelmed by “a bottleneck of security checkpoints and unaccredited individuals,” creating intense pressure and disorder.

Somewhere in that moment of pushing and jostling, his iPhone 17 Pro Max disappeared.

But the story didn’t end there.

Almost immediately, a digital trail began to unfold. The missing phone was tracked to Wuse Zone 6 before its signal shifted toward Karu, just outside Abuja.

With this information, Ajetunmobi contacted the police, triggering a rapid response led by ASP Isah Mohammed.

The search led officers to a roadside spot near Karu Bridge, where a group had gathered around a faulty SUV linked to a Nasarawa governorship hopeful.

The situation took an interesting turn during a group search. One man, later identified as Mahmoud Abdullahi, appeared uneasy.

That tension soon made sense during the search; the missing phone slipped right out of his trousers.

Even though the device had powered off, Ajetunmobi quickly revived it using a power bank and unlocked it with his passcode.

“The phone came alive,” he said, applauding the swift action of the Nigeria Police Force.
