Bobrisky’s lawyer has spoken amid the ongoing legal proceedings involving the Nigerian social media personality.
Answering to questions from TVC News reporters, Bobrisky’s lawyer addressed the public’s interest in the case, disclosing that the judgment has been shifted until April 19th.
Even with efforts to present laws and emphasize Bobrisky’s status as a first-time offender, the lawyer voiced a somber message, stating, “There’s nothing we can do” regarding the adjournment.
He further highlighted that, under Nigerian law, first-time offenders in cases of money mutilation face a prescribed penalty of either a ₦50,000 fine or a six-month jail term.
Significantly, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has reportedly accepted Bobrisky’s proposal to settle the fine, yet his release from custody remains pending.
During the trial proceedings, Bobrisky took the opportunity to express remorse and offer an apology to the court.
He admitted to his actions, claiming ignorance regarding the implications of spraying money and pledging to change his ways.
Despite the EFCC’s acceptance of the proposed fine payment, Bobrisky continues to be held in custody, with his time spent in EFCC detention exceeding twenty-four hours.
Videos circulating online purportedly depict him engaging in money-spraying activities at a party, adding fuel to the ongoing controversy.
The case has garnered significant attention, drawing reactions from celebrities and the public.
Notably, celebrities such as Eniola Ojo and Simi Gold have voiced their support for Bobrisky, with Eniola Ojo expressing feelings of guilt and suggesting that her movie premiere may have inadvertently contributed to the events leading up to Bobrisky’s arrest.
