Speaking during a Sunday sermon at the Dunamis headquarters in Abuja, Pastor Enenche said his decision was not personal but rooted in a long-standing principle of avoiding government money or influence in his ministry.

“For some people, that may be a surprise because they don’t know who we are. But those who know us, that’s no surprise at all. That’s how we’ve lived, and that’s what we’ve stood for,” he said.

Enenche explained that he has consistently refused any form of government support for over 20 years. He cited multiple instances where he turned down financial offers and gifts, even after rendering national or official services.

One such instance, he said, occurred in 2014 when he traveled to Jerusalem with then-President Goodluck Jonathan and state governors under the invitation of the Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board. Despite the board offering him an honorarium upon return, he declined and confirmed he had funded the trip personally.

“The board chairman brought an offering and said this is their honorarium to me for going. I said no,” he said.

Enenche also noted that during Jonathan’s time as president, he attended the Dunamis church more than once, yet no financial dealings ever took place. He stressed that not a single naira of government money went into building the church’s headquarters, the Glory Dome.

He recalled similar rejections from former Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom and a longtime friend who later became a government minister and offered to gift him a vehicle — which he also turned down.

According to Enenche, these actions are rooted in his desire to remain free to speak truth to power without any sense of obligation or compromise.

“I don’t want to touch any dime of government money,” he declared. “Accepting such gifts can tie your hands. I want to be free to carry out my prophetic duty without fear or favour.”
