Music video director, Director Pink has shared her reasons for shifting focus from acting to directing.
She recounts facing humiliation and unprofessional treatment during movie auditions, including suggestive calls from male filmmakers, which prompted her to become her own boss.
In a recent interview, Director Pink stated, “I wanted to be an actress but the humiliation was too much. Long queues, shady ‘come to this location’ calls. I said ‘No.’ That’s when I chose to be my own boss”.
She’s found success as a music video director, acknowledging the challenges but valuing the autonomy.
Director Pink advises aspiring directors to practice patience and delayed gratification, noting it takes time to reach the top. Her journey serves as inspiration for creatives navigating the Nigerian entertainment industry.
