The wife and daughter of the late Anglican priest, Venerable Edwin Achi, who was killed by kidnappers, have been released after three months in captivity
The family was abducted from their home in Nissi community, Kaduna State, on October 28, 2025, during a nighttime raid by armed bandits.

Initially, the kidnappers demanded a ransom of N600 million, later reducing it to N200 million, but the family was unable to meet the demands. Venerable Achi was tragically murdered while in captivity.
Late last night, authorities confirmed the release of the priest’s wife and daughter, ending their harrowing ordeal. The news has sparked a wave of relief and sorrow online, as many Nigerians celebrated their freedom while mourning the loss of the priest.
Social media users described the situation as “bittersweet,” noting that while the family’s release is welcome, it comes at a heavy emotional cost.
The tragic death of Ven. Edwin Achi highlights the persistent insecurity in Nigeria, particularly the threats faced by religious leaders in the northern region.
