Police confirmed the abduction of 25 students, stating that heavily armed attackers invaded the Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School in Maga, Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area.

The Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Nafi’u Abubakar Kotarkoshi, revealed that one staff member was killed and another injured during the attack around 4:00 am.

According to authorities, the bandits scaled the school fence, forced their way into the hostel, and engaged officers on duty in a fierce gunfight. Inside the compound, they killed a staff member, injured another, and fled with the students.

Amina Hassan shared her painful account with DW, describing how she and her family were woken by unusual footsteps around 3:30 am. Initially thinking it was cattle, she alerted her husband before realizing armed men had entered their home.

“My name is Amina Hassan, wife of the vice principal of Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School Gada, Kebbi State, who was killed by armed bandits,” she said. “We were sleeping around 3:30 am when I heard footsteps near our house and the school hostel. I woke my husband thinking cows had entered our farm, but I soon realized the intruders were humans dressed in army camouflage and carrying gvns.”

Amina said the ba.ndits thre.atened her husband before shooting him. “They warned him not to do anything unusual. My husband asked if he could pray before they k!lled him. They allowed him, and after saying his last prayer, he was shot. When I tried to approach him, they thre.atened to k!ll me too,” she recalled.

The attackers reportedly tried to abduct Amina as well. “They asked me to follow them, but I refused. After k!lling my husband, they told the children to lie down. Once they left, I tried to leave the house with the kids and saw they had surrounded the area and the school hostels, securing the whole place,” she said.

Amina described the assailants as young men wearing army camouflage uniforms. She said three entered the hostel while others remained outside, and their voices suggested they could be Fulani.

“They were young men in army camouflage. Three went inside the hostel, while the rest stayed outside. From their voices, it seemed they were Fulanis,” she added.
