The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has given property owners in Asokoro, Maitama, Garki, and Wuse districts a final 14-day deadline to pay a N5 million penalty for breaching approved land-use regulations
In a statement on Sunday, his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, said the directive takes effect from Tuesday, November 11, to November 25, 2025, after which strict enforcement will begin.

According to Olayinka, the affected property owners must pay the N5 million violation fee and other applicable charges for illegal land-use changes and conversions within the grace period or face sanctions from the FCT Administration.
Wike had earlier, on September 3, 2025, approved the N5 million fine and a 7.5 percent levy on the capital value of any property converted without the FCT’s permission, following a report from a ministerial committee on land-use abuses.
However, it clarified that this offer does not cover properties already revoked for non-development, unpaid ground rent, or other serious violations.
