Nigerian music continued its global dominance as Wizkid and Ayra Starr headlined the list of winners at the 2026 MOBO Awards held in Manchester, United Kingdom

Wizkid secured the Best African Music Act award after outshining a strong lineup of Nigerian stars, including Davido, Rema, Shallipopi, Tiwa Savage, and Adekunle Gold.

Ayra Starr also made a powerful statement on the international stage, clinching the Best International Act award ahead of global names like Cardi B, Gunna, and Kehlani.

British-Nigerian content creator and media personality Niko Omilana added to the night’s highlights, winning the Best Media Personality category over contenders such as Bemi Orojuogun, known as Bus Aunty, and DJ Remi Burgz.

The 2026 MOBO Awards, staged in Manchester for the first time, celebrated Black excellence in music and entertainment, with several international acts recognized for their contributions.

The nominees list also featured other talents of Nigerian heritage. German-Nigerian singer Odeal earned nominations in both the Best Male Act and Best R&B/Soul Act categories, while British actors Wunmi Mosaku, Damson Idris, Dayo Koleosho, and Cynthia Erivo were all nominated for Best Performance in a TV Show/Film.
