A woman who had been in a long-term relationship with popular entertainer Segun Johnson has shared her side of a painful breakup, claiming he ended things shortly after convincing her to move back to Nigeria from the UK.
In a now-viral video, she opened up about their 13-year relationship, describing it as one that had its ups and downs but was deeply rooted in loyalty, especially during the early days before his rise to fame.
According to her, they reconnected while she was living in the UK, and he persuaded her to give the relationship another chance. At that point, she said, he reminded her of how she stood by him when he had little.
“I have been in a relationship with him for 13 years. Even though it was full of ups and downs, I relocated to the UK at one point, and we rekindled when he came over. By then, he had become popular.
He told me to let us continue our relationship because I stayed by him when he had nothing, so we picked up where we left off.”
Despite being settled abroad, she said he strongly encouraged her to return to Nigeria so they could build a future together. She initially resisted, worried about becoming dependent on him, but eventually agreed.
“He told me to relocate back to Nigeria, and he would provide whatever I needed. I refused, I said I didn’t want to become a liability.
He insisted and I listened to him. I had to leave the new job I got, and I travelled to Lagos without telling my friends. He picked me up at the airport and gave me a new necklace.”
The beginning of her return seemed promising. They celebrated his birthday together the next day, which coincided with Valentine’s Day. But not long after, things began to unravel.
She explained that within weeks, she started noticing inconsistencies, especially after he returned from a trip abroad with an unexpected gift.
“The second week, he went to the UK. When he came back, he brought a money-counting machine. I was surprised to see it.
I planned to buy it for him because he earns money when he sings at events. I asked him who had given him the machine, and he said it was a woman.”
Her curiosity led her to check his phone, where she claims she uncovered a hidden relationship.
“I later checked his phone and discovered that a lady he met in London had given him the machine, and they had been dating for about a year.”
What followed, she said, was even more shocking. Instead of addressing things in person, he allegedly ended the relationship through a voice note.
“Later, he said we should meet and talk, but he couldn’t make it, so he sent me a VN saying he wanted to move on with someone else. I was shocked because he was the one who told me to relocate back to Nigeria.”
She added that when she confronted him, his response left her even more hurt.
“I asked him questions, and he showed no remorse. He said, ‘Now is the time,’ and he wasn’t getting any younger. He immediately sent all my things back to me via Uber. This happened last month.”
Still trying to process everything, she questioned why she was asked to leave her life behind in the UK, only to be treated this way. For her, the betrayal wasn’t just about the breakup but the timing, the secrecy, and the lack of empathy after so many years together.
