According to a statement by the spokesperson of the Bauchi Police Command, Ahmed Wakil, a Superintendent of Police, the suspect, identified as Maryam Ibrahim, was accused of receiving and selling the stolen tricycles.

Maryam allegedly sold the seven stolen tricycles, commonly known as “Keke Napep,” within Bauchi.

Investigations by the Police further indicated that she conspired with four accomplices: Adamu Sale (30), Umar Ibrahim (31), Nasiru Usman (29), and Nasiru Musa Umar (27), all from different parts of Bauchi to perpetrate the act.

The suspects were arrested after a coordinated effort by the State Intelligence Department, which acted on credible information about their activities.

During the operation, the police recovered the seven stolen tricycles.

Wakil stated that receiving stolen property is a serious criminal offense under Section 427 of the Criminal Code Act, which can lead to a sentence of up to 14 years in prison.

Meanwhile, the suspects remain in police custody and will be charged to court once the investigation is concluded.
