Woman Right To Marry Daughter’s Ex-Boyfriend – Kano Hisbah

The Kano State Hisbah Board has cleared the misconceptions surrounding the marriage by the woman who married her daughter’s former suitor in the Rano Local Government Area of the state.

According to reports, the woman, Malama Khadija, allegedly dissolved her marriage and married her daughter’s boyfriend.

The incident happened after the daughter of the woman, Aisha, rejected her suitor, an action that generated controversy as a result of which the Hisbah Board set up a committee to investigate the matter.

The committee which investigated the controversy surrounding the marriage submitted its report Tuesday evening.

Presenting the report, the Chairman of the committee, who doubles as deputy commander in charge of Hisbah Special Operations, Hussain Ahmed, explained that the committee had found out that the marriage was legal and had fulfilled all the necessary criteria.

He explained that the woman, Khadija Rano, was divorced by her former husband, and had observed the three months waiting period (iddah) prescribed by Islam, and later married a man whom her biological daughter had earlier rejected.

Ahmed dismissed the rumours that Khadijah was seeing her new husband while married and that she instigated her husband to divorce her to marry her daughter’s suitor.

He noted that the marriage was legal according to Islam, saying it was the reason the Hisbah commander in Rano LGA supported and took part in the wedding rites.

Responding, the Commander General of the Hisbah Board, Sheikh Harun Ibn Sina, commended the committee for discharging its duties effectively.

He maintained that the committee members were carefully selected, due to their vast knowledge of Islamic teachings and societal orientation.

Ibn Sina charged the public to desist from spreading fake news and avoid misconceptions on issues regarding Islam.

He advised them to seek for knowledge, as Islam is a religion that set aside jurisdictions regarding marriage, family life and all other related issues of human endeavor.

The social media was last week awash with reports about the woman that allegedly ended her marriage to marry her daughter’s rejected suitor.
