A woman has raised concerns over a new MTN SIM card she recently purchased after it started receiving repeated bank alerts from an unknown UBA account.
According to her, she had only just bought the SIM and had never used it to open a bank account. However, she was surprised to find credit and debit alerts coming in regularly, with different amounts of money linked to an account she knows nothing about.
She said she had already reported the issue to MTN and was expecting the network provider to look into it and find a solution, but nothing has been done so far.
Frustrated by the situation, she questioned how a SIM card purchased as new could already be receiving another person’s banking transactions and warned the telecom company that she would hold it responsible if the situation got her into trouble.
In a viral post, the woman said:
“Dear MTN Nigeria, how can I buy a new SIM card that I have not used to open any bank account, yet I keep receiving credit and debit alerts involving different amounts of money from an unknown UBA account? If I get into trouble, I will sue you people oo.”
