A disagreement between a couple in Abuja reportedly took a dangerous turn after a woman allegedly att. acked her boyfriend and later set their rented apartment on fire.
The incident reportedly happened over the weekend at Kabusa Gardens Estate.
A resident of the estate said the argument began after the man came home at about midnight. His girlfriend reportedly accused him of having an affair with another woman.
Things quickly escalated, with the woman allegedly picking up a knife and thr.eatening him. The man managed to get out of the apartment and locked the door after him.
What happened next was reportedly more destructive.
The woman allegedly pulled apart the apartment’s air conditioner and brought out the man’s belongings before setting them on fire. She was also accused of pouring fuel inside the apartment and igniting it.
Residents and estate security personnel reportedly rushed to the scene and put out the fire before it could spread to neighbouring parts of the property.
The couple had reportedly moved into the estate less than five months ago. The resident also said this was not the first serious fight between them, claiming that security personnel had stepped in during another violent dispute involving the pair last month.
According to the resident:
“The couple has been living in the estate for barely five months and security personnel had previously intervened in a similar vi0lent confrontation between the couple last month.”
