During a press briefing in Abuja on March 11, 2025, NWCGG spokesperson Dr. Cecilia Ikechukwu condemned Akpoti-Uduaghan’s actions, describing them as “disruptive, crude, and distasteful.”

She said the senator’s conduct had embarrassed Nigerian women and undermined the credibility of female politicians striving to earn public trust.

The group accused Akpoti-Uduaghan of a pattern of blackmailing men in power and making false allegations to stay politically relevant.

They praised Akpabio for supporting women’s inclusion in governance and reaffirmed their commitment to promoting female leadership.

NWCGG urged Akpoti-Uduaghan to use her six-month suspension for self-reflection, therapy, and a deeper understanding of Senate rules.

While stating that her behavior reinforced negative stereotypes about women in leadership, they insisted her actions should not overshadow the progress of Nigerian women in politics.

“Women in governance must inspire, not embarrass,” the group said, calling on Nigerians to focus on the achievements of female leaders who have served with distinction. They emphasized the need for character, maturity, and responsible leadership in building a nation rooted in integrity and respect.
